About Lighthouse Arts
Lighthouse Arts is an initiative of the Hunter Writers’ Centre, a nonprofit serving the stories and storytellers of the Hunter region since 1998. Since 2021, Lighthouse Arts has activated the stunning Whibayganba-Nobbys Headland Lighthouse cottages to support the region’s unique and diverse local arts, culture, and tourism.
During the week the Lighthouse Arts Residencies offer writers and artists an inspiring space to create and grow their work.
On weekends the Lighthouse precinct is open to visitors, including the Lighthouse Arts Store and Exhibition Space featuring artwork by local artists and Residents, Hunter Writers’ Centre publications and more.
We seek to protect and celebrate Awabakal culture, historic and maritime heritage and provide a safe and collaborative space for local artists, while celebrating the region’s iconic landmark and supporting local tourism and cultural businesses.
