This online course will cover some fundamentals of good poetry. Discover poetic tools you can use to enliven your poems including: imagery, sound play, using particulars to open up to larger meaning and much more. Together we will look at some published poems that exemplify the theory, and you will have short exercises to stretch your imagination. If there’s time, we may be able to workshop a short poem from each participant.
This course will be facilitated by Judy Johnson. Judy has been part of the Australian Poetry and writing scene for over twenty years. She has published five poetry collections, a novel and a verse novel. She won the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award and her books have been placed on both the Sydney and Melbourne University Syllabus.
