We are delighted by the fantastic response we’ve received, which has given us plenty of information to tailor new writers groups according to the information we’ve received.
Next Steps:
We are now in the process of analysing the information to identify the specific needs and preferences for new writers’ groups.
As part of this process, we’ll reach out to people who’ve expressed interest in learning more about facilitating these groups. If you have indicated your interest in leading, or would like to know more about it, we will reach out in the next couple of weeks to discuss further.
We acknowledge the anticipation for writers’ groups. We are keen to get the writers’ groups going as soon as possible but we also want to make sure they are set up properly. This might take a couple of months to finalise everything and offer the new groups. Thanks for your patience during this time. We will keep you updated about the process.
Please also note, there may be limitations in terms of capacity and resources. But we will do our best to ensure inclusivity and diversity in offering of the new groups.
The writers’ groups will be made available to members of the Hunter Writers’ Centre.
Want to join a writing group and connect with like-minded writers?
We’re creating new writing groups to complement our existing groups, and we want to know what you want.
If you are interested in a writing group, please fill out an expression of interest form (below) with your location and writing group interests. Early March, we’ll review the responses to work out what kinds of writer’s groups are needed where. Then we’ll list them up and invite members to join.
We’re also actively seeking writing group facilitators because these groups can’t run themselves. Being a facilitator is a great way to build a writing community. Facilitators receive support through quarterly group meetings admin assistance from Hunter Writers’ Centre.
